Booking Rate
Booking rate is the percentage of DM conversations or outreach sequences that result in a scheduled discovery call or meeting - a key conversion metric between DM and calendar.
Booking rate = (calls booked ÷ DM conversations started) × 100. It measures how effectively the DM sequence moves prospects from conversation to calendar. Benchmarks vary widely: cold outreach booking rates of 5–10% are typical; warm, value-first DM sequences from content-engaged prospects often reach 20–35%.
The highest-leverage variable in booking rate: friction reduction. Every extra step between "I'm interested" and "I'm on the calendar" loses 15–25% of prospects. A Calendly link in the DM, a clear one-line description of what the call involves, and a simple "here's my link" rather than a back-and-forth scheduling exchange all increase booking rate.
The booking rate and show rate are separate metrics that both matter. A 30% booking rate with a 50% show rate (people who book but don't attend) produces 15% effective meeting rate. Adding a calendar reminder sequence and an email/DM confirmation the day before typically improves show rate from 50–60% to 75–85%.
