The highest-leverage stage

Most founders focus on getting more impressions. The data says the bigger opportunity is in the DM → call conversion step. Going from a 20% to a 40% DM-to-call rate doubles your pipeline without writing a single extra post.

The difference between 20% and 40% DM-to-call rates: message timing, referencing a specific touchpoint, and having a clear frictionless booking link. See DM playbooks →

Frequently asked questions

What is a good LinkedIn DM reply rate?

A LinkedIn DM reply rate of 15–25% is considered strong for cold outreach. Warm DMs (sent after someone engages with your content) typically achieve 35–55% reply rates. The biggest variable is the opening message - value-first messages that reference specific content the prospect engaged with outperform generic connection messages by 3–4×.

What is a good LinkedIn connection acceptance rate?

A connection acceptance rate of 25–40% is typical for B2B outreach on LinkedIn. Personalized connection requests with a specific reason for connecting achieve 35–50%. Blank requests or generic "I'd like to connect" messages typically land at 15–25%.

How many LinkedIn posts does it take to book a discovery call?

Based on Creator's aggregate data, it takes roughly 10,000 post impressions to generate 1 booked discovery call across all ICP types. However, this improves significantly with an optimized DM sequence and lead magnet - well-structured funnels reduce this to 3,000–5,000 impressions per booked call.

What is the average LinkedIn profile view to connection rate?

Roughly 15–25% of people who view your LinkedIn profile send a connection request or take an action. An optimized LinkedIn profile (clear headline, strong about section, pinned featured section) can push this toward 25–30%. Profile views after a post goes viral often convert at a lower rate (8–12%) because they're less qualified viewers.

How do you improve LinkedIn DM conversion rates?

The three highest-leverage changes: (1) Warm the lead before DMing - send a DM only after they've commented on your post or engaged with a lead magnet. (2) Reference the specific touchpoint in the opening line. (3) Lead with value - share a relevant insight, resource, or observation before making any ask. DMs that do all three average 40–55% reply rates.

Methodology

Conversion benchmarks are derived from anonymized aggregate data across B2B LinkedIn accounts using Creator between Q3 2023 and Q1 2025. Funnel data is captured at each stage: impressions (from LinkedIn native analytics), profile views, connection requests sent/accepted, DM threads initiated, replies received, and meetings booked via integrated calendar links.

ICP classification is self-reported at account creation. Accounts with fewer than 90 days of active data are excluded. Outlier accounts (top/bottom 5% at each stage) are trimmed to reduce skew from viral posts or bot-heavy connection lists.
