Native Video
Native video on LinkedIn is video uploaded directly to the platform. not a YouTube or Vimeo link. and receives significantly more organic reach.
LinkedIn's algorithm treats native video (files uploaded directly to LinkedIn) and external video links (YouTube, Vimeo, Loom) completely differently. Native video plays inline in the feed, generates dwell time by auto-playing, and gets pushed into the algorithm's distribution rings. External links redirect out of LinkedIn and generate almost no algorithmic reach.
The difference in reach is dramatic. In controlled tests across creator accounts, native video posts average 3–5× more impressions than the same video shared as a YouTube link. If you have video content, always upload the file directly.
Format norms that work on LinkedIn: 60–90 seconds is the sweet spot for organic reach; silent-by-default means you need subtitles (LinkedIn auto-generates them, but they're often wrong. edit them); a strong visual hook in the first 2 seconds before any audio; and portrait or square format for mobile.
