Sponsored Content

LinkedIn Sponsored Content is a paid advertising format that distributes a post (article, image, video, carousel, or document) to a targeted audience beyond the company's or individual's existing followers.

Sponsored Content appears natively in the LinkedIn feed for targeted audiences who don't follow the company or creator. Unlike Display Ads (which appear in sidebars and banners), Sponsored Content looks and behaves like an organic post - it has a "Sponsored" label but lives in the feed in the same position as non-paid content.

The targeting capabilities that make LinkedIn Sponsored Content particularly valuable for B2B: job title targeting (reach people with specific roles), company size, industry, seniority level, skills, group membership, and lookalike audiences. The specificity of B2B targeting available on LinkedIn is significantly better than Facebook or Twitter for professional-context products and services.

Cost benchmarks: LinkedIn CPM (cost per 1,000 impressions) typically ranges from $30–$80 for B2B audiences, making it significantly more expensive than other platforms. The higher cost reflects the targeting precision - reaching a CMO at a $50M ARR SaaS company costs more than reaching a general adult audience, but the conversion value is commensurately higher.
