LinkedIn Banner

The LinkedIn banner is the 1584 × 396px background image on a profile, visible before a visitor reads a single word.

The LinkedIn banner is the full-width background image displayed above a profile picture. At 1584 × 396px, it's one of the largest pieces of visual real estate on the platform and one of the least well-used. Most people leave it on the default abstract blue gradient LinkedIn provides.

What works: banners that state the value proposition in large text, include a recognizable brand element (logo, headshot in context), and match the profile's color scheme. The banner should function as a billboard. readable in 2 seconds, answering "who is this person and what do they do?"

What doesn't: stock photography with no text, generic "motivational" landscapes, oversized logos with tiny unreadable taglines. The banner is also mobile-truncated. the left and right 15% are cropped on most mobile views, so place critical text in the center 70%.
