LinkedIn Headline

The LinkedIn headline is the 220-character field directly under your name, visible in search results, feed comments, and connection requests.

Your LinkedIn headline is the most-read piece of copy on your entire profile. It appears in: every comment you leave on any post, every connection request you send, every search result where your name appears, the "people you may know" widget, and inbound InMails. Most people read it before ever clicking your profile.

A high-converting headline does three things: names who you help, names the outcome you deliver, and contains at least one credibility signal. The default LinkedIn behavior is to auto-populate the headline with your job title. That's a mistake. "CEO at Acme Inc." tells a stranger nothing they should care about.

The format that works: "[What you do] for [who] → [result they want]." Credibility inserts: named metric, named client category, or a social proof number. Keep it specific. "I help B2B SaaS founders build LinkedIn pipelines that generate $50K+ months" beats "LinkedIn Strategist | Speaker | Growth Expert."
