Social Selling Index (SSI)

Social Selling Index (SSI) is LinkedIn's 0–100 score measuring how well a profile builds brand, finds prospects, exchanges insights, and builds relationships.

LinkedIn's Social Selling Index is a proprietary metric LinkedIn computes for every account, scoring 0–100 across four dimensions: establish your professional brand, find the right people, engage with insights, and build relationships. Each dimension contributes up to 25 points.

Most users sit between 30 and 60. Scores above 70 are uncommon; above 80 is rare and usually correlates with high posting frequency, large second-degree network, and consistent inbound DMs. The score itself doesn't directly affect distribution, but the underlying behaviors (active posting, profile completeness, network quality) absolutely do.

Practical use of SSI: as a directional signal, not a target. Optimizing for SSI specifically can lead to vanity behavior (random connections, generic engagement). Optimizing for the underlying dimensions. strong personal brand, ICP-relevant network, original content, real conversations. moves both the score and pipeline.
