Hand-raiser post - checklist distribution (Pillar 4)

Post that teases a downloadable checklist and drives comment opt-ins. Pillar 4 (Pipeline) format: directly invites qualified prospects to raise their hand. Comments are weighted 15x more than likes in LinkedIn's algorithm - a well-executed hand-raiser does double work: it generates algorithmic reach AND creates a self-identified warm lead list.

When to use this template

When you have a repeatable process your ICP runs manually and would benefit from a documented checklist. Deploy as 10% of your posting cadence (approximately 1 per week). Automate the DM delivery before posting - a delay of more than 60 seconds kills the momentum that a comment creates.

The template

If you're a {specific_icp_description} who {specific_situation}, comment "{keyword}" below.

I'll send you {specific_resource_description} - {brief_proof_of_value}.

Here's a preview of what's inside:

✅ {step_1}

The full checklist has {total_steps} steps with {format_detail}.

Variables

{specific_icp_description}
Name your ICP with enough precision that unqualified readers self-select out. 'a B2B consultant' is too broad. 'a B2B consultant posting on LinkedIn consistently but not seeing qualified inbound DMs' is specific enough that only people in that exact situation respond.
{specific_situation}
The specific situation they're in that makes this checklist relevant. This is the ICP specificity test - if someone who doesn't fit the description would still comment, the description isn't specific enough.
{keyword}
Single, all-caps word. Easy to type in a comment. CHECKLIST, SYSTEM, SEND, YES, AUDIT. Simple words get more comments than clever ones.
{specific_resource_description}
What they'll receive, named specifically. 'my 12-step LinkedIn outreach checklist with copy-paste scripts for each stage' beats 'a useful checklist'.
{brief_proof_of_value}
One-line social proof: 'used by 200+ consultants', 'based on 127 profiles analyzed', 'what helped [client] book 18 calls in 90 days'.
{step_1 through 5}
5 of the most compelling steps from the full checklist. Tease, don't give away everything. Make each one specific enough that readers can imagine using it.

Worked example

If you're a B2B consultant or coach who's been posting on LinkedIn for 3+ months but still not getting qualified inbound DMs, comment "SYSTEM" below.

I'll send you my 12-step LinkedIn-to-pipeline checklist - the exact process I use across our agency clients to go from 0 to consistent inbound.

Here's a preview of what's inside:

✅ ICP filter - the 3 criteria that qualify a prospect in or out instantly
✅ Connection request formula - the 280-character structure that converts at 55%+
✅ First DM anatomy - the 3-part opener that earns a reply without pitching
✅ Need finding sequence - 5 messages that surface real buying intent
✅ Hand-off trigger - when to propose the call and exactly what to say

The full checklist has 12 steps with copy-paste scripts for each DM stage.

How to use it

  1. 1

    ICP specificity test: can someone who doesn't fit the description self-select out?

    The ICP description in the first line determines the quality of your lead list. 'Business coaches' is too broad - you'll get comments from everyone. 'Business coaches posting 3+ times per week with 1,000+ followers who aren't getting qualified inbound' is precise enough to filter.

  2. 2

    Automate the DM delivery before posting

    A delay of more than 60 seconds between comment and DM kills the momentum. Set up your automation (ManyChat, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, or Creator's automation flow) before you post. Test it on yourself first.

  3. 3

    Show 5 of the best steps, not the most basic ones

    The preview steps should make the full checklist obviously worth having. Show steps that are specific enough to demonstrate the checklist's value - not the obvious ones (Step 1: define your ICP). Show the steps your ICP would recognise as the hard part.

  4. 4

    Follow up the checklist DM with one qualifying question

    After you send the checklist, ask one question: 'Quick question - are you currently posting on LinkedIn consistently, or is that part also something you're working on building?' This opens the Gate 1 conversation without pitching.
