Does SSI actually correlate with pipeline?

Loosely. SSI predicts activity, not outcomes.

A high SSI means you're active and visible. It does NOT mean you're closing deals. Plenty of 80+ SSI accounts have zero pipeline, and plenty of 50 SSI accounts have full pipelines.

The Brand pillar matters most for B2B founders.

Of the four SSI pillars, 'Establish your professional brand' has the highest correlation with inbound pipeline. The other three pillars matter more for outbound sales reps.

Don't optimize for SSI directly.

Optimize for content quality, profile clarity, and qualified DM conversations. SSI rises naturally as a side effect.

Track SSI quarterly, not weekly.

Weekly tracking creates noise. Quarterly tracking shows whether your overall LinkedIn activity is trending the right direction.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good LinkedIn SSI score?

An SSI score of 70+ is considered strong for B2B sellers and founders. The LinkedIn global average sits around 32. Sales reps tend to score highest (avg 55), recruiters next (avg 60), founders/marketers tend to be lower (avg 38–44) because they don't run as many searches or InMails.

How is the LinkedIn SSI calculated?

SSI is calculated across four 25-point pillars: (1) Establish your professional brand, driven by profile completeness and content engagement, (2) Find the right people, driven by search activity, (3) Engage with insights, driven by reactions and comments given/received, (4) Build relationships, driven by connections and InMail responses. Total ranges from 0 to 100.

Where do I check my LinkedIn SSI score?

Visit linkedin.com/sales/ssi while logged in. The page shows your current score, breakdown by the four pillars, your industry rank, and your network rank. SSI updates once every 24 hours, so changes from new activity won't show immediately.

Does SSI affect my LinkedIn ranking?

Not directly. SSI is not an input to LinkedIn's content distribution algorithm. However, the activities that drive a high SSI (publishing content, engaging with others, completing your profile) ARE the same activities that drive algorithmic distribution, so SSI and reach correlate, but only because they have the same underlying causes.

How can I increase my LinkedIn SSI score?

Five activities move the needle fastest: (1) complete every section of your profile (especially About, Featured, Experience), (2) post 3–5 times per week, (3) leave 5+ thoughtful comments per day on others' posts, (4) accept and send relevant connection requests weekly, (5) use LinkedIn search to find prospects 2–3 times per week. SSI typically rises 5–10 points per month with consistent activity.

Methodology

SSI benchmarks aggregate self-reported scores from 1,800+ Creator users plus public role-level averages reported by LinkedIn Sales Solutions.

Role classification uses LinkedIn-listed job title at time of measurement. Outliers above 92 (top 1%) excluded to avoid skewing tier averages.

LinkedIn does not publish official global SSI percentiles, so benchmarks reflect aggregated user-shared data rather than LinkedIn's internal numbers.

Supporting research: LinkedIn Sales Solutions SSI documentation, internal Creator user survey, LinkedIn Sales Insider quarterly reports.
